There are nearly 1 billion websites on the Internet today. Not all of these websites are active, nor are all of the websites useful. However, there are quite a few online resources that can help Oklahoma CPAs do their job better. Here are seven sites for you to explore.

1. Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants - The OSCPA is the only statewide professional organization for CPAs in Oklahoma.  This website provides helpful links, business and industry information, a Career Center with useful links and articles for help with resumes, job boards, and classifieds, and a news section. Much of the information is specific to Oklahoma. There is also a category for the public with tips on such things as “why to use a CPA” and “how to choose a CPA.”

2. Oklahoma Accountancy BoardThe OAB website is where to find CPA Exams registration and CPA Exam scores. Oklahoma CPAs can get information on licensing, CPE, and access to useful forms. This site is where CPA Certificates are renewed for both individuals and firms.

3. Accounting TodayThe menu on the home page of Accounting Today has tabs covering audits and accounting, financial planning, tax practice, technology, and firm news. Every section has articles, videos, and slideshows about the topic. Free registration is required for total access. There are videos on skills, web seminars, reports, links to resources such as white papers and eBooks, and a newsletter.

4. Journal of AccountancyLike several of the sites previously mentioned the JofA site is divided into different topics of interest to CPAs, including technology, practice management, financial reporting, taxes, accounting news, and breaking news. Also, there are online issues of the JofA magazine.

5. The American Institute of Certified Public AccountantsThe AICPA is the website for the national association of CPAs. It has distinct sections covering everything from accounting education to information management. There is a News and Events section for up-to-date information on industry news and conventions, a section on the CPA Exam, job boards, career advice, and a store where white papers and other publications can be purchased. There are also links to other online resources.

6. Internal Revenue ServiceFor tax information, the IRS website has the latest tax news, tools, forms, and guidelines.

7. LinkedInThis is the site for professionals. You can find groups of interest to CPAs, make professional contacts, and get useful, up-to-date information concerning the accounting industry.
